Speaking

My sessions are designed for organisations navigating growth, complexity and organisational change.

I regularly speak to:

Founders and executive teams in scaling companies

HR and People leaders responsible for organisational strategy

Leadership teams navigating rapid growth or restructuring

Managers leading teams through change and transformation

Professional audiences interested in leadership and organisational performance

If your organisation is moving through a period of growth, change or structural complexity, these conversations tend to land particularly strongly.

What happens in the room

My goal is to shift how people think about leadership, HR and organisational performance.

After a session, audiences achieve:

  • A clearer understanding of why their organisation feels harder to run as it grows

  • New language for discussing leadership and cultural challenges

  • Greater confidence in simplifying people processes rather than adding complexity

More honest conversations between leadership teams about what is actually getting in the way of performance

  • Many leaders tell me the ideas continue to shape their thinking long after the event.

Format options

I can contribute to events in several ways depending on what you need.

  • Keynote Talks

Strategic talks designed to challenge thinking and spark conversation across leadership teams and conference audiences.

  • Leadership Workshops

Interactive sessions where leaders work directly on real organisational challenges.

  • Panel Discussions

Thoughtful contributions to conversations about leadership, culture, organisational design and the future of work.

  • Executive Retreats

Deep thinking sessions for senior leadership teams navigating growth, complexity or change.

About me…

After nearly two decades leading global People functions across scaling technology and venture backed organisations, I bring a perspective that comes from being inside the reality of growth rather than observing it from the outside.

I’ve built and led People organisations across 27 countries in the UK, EMEA, the USA, LATAM and APAC, guiding companies through rapid scaling, global expansion, restructuring, integration and turnaround. During that time I’ve worked alongside founders, CEOs, executive teams and boards making high stakes decisions in fast moving environments where leadership, culture and performance are deeply interconnected.

Today my work centres on The H Way, a consultancy built around a philosophy I call Just Enough HR. It challenges outdated models of leadership and people management and helps organisations design people systems that support speed, clarity and measurable business outcomes.

When I speak, I combine strategic insight with honest observations from inside scaling companies, along with practical ideas you can take back into your organisation immediately.

What you and your organisation will gain

My sessions are designed for founders, executives, HR leaders and managers navigating complexity, growth and organisational change.

When you attend one of my talks or workshops, you can expect to leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of why traditional HR and leadership models are breaking down

  • Practical insight into how scaling organisations can maintain clarity and momentum

  • A new perspective on culture, leadership dynamics and decision making

  • Tools for navigating organisational complexity without slowing execution

I blend organisational strategy, leadership psychology and lived experience from inside high growth companies.

Signature Speaking Topics

Why traditional leadership models are failing

Many leadership frameworks still reflect industrial era assumptions about control, hierarchy and physical presence. In modern organisations these assumptions often create friction rather than performance.

In this talk, I explore how leadership needs to evolve and what effective leadership looks like in fast moving, hybrid and increasingly AI enabled organisations.

  • Two people in an office, one man relaxing in a chair with feet up on the desk holding a cup, and a woman sitting on the floor with legs extended and head straight, both dressed in business attire. There's a label that reads 'from hesitation to momentum'.

    Why organisational change fails

Most change programmes fail not because the strategy is wrong, but because the human dynamics are misunderstood.

In this session, I share how poorly managed transitions trigger resistance, disengagement and performance decline, and how you can guide teams through complex change while maintaining trust and momentum.

  • A woman with blond hair wearing glasses with yellow, purple, and blue sticky notes on her face and surrounding her. She has a serious expression and is wearing a cream-colored blouse and pink skirt. There is a pink sign with black text that reads "clarity changes everything."

    Scaling globally without losing control

International expansion brings structural, cultural and legal complexity that can quickly overwhelm leadership teams.

Drawing on my experience working across 27 countries, I explore how organisations can scale globally while maintaining alignment, clarity and strong leadership.

    The messy middle

Why Organisations Become Harder to Work In as They Grow

Many organisations reach a stage where growth brings increasing complexity, slower decision making and organisational silos.

In this talk I explore why this stage appears in almost every scaling company and how you can move through it without losing culture, clarity or execution speed.

  • A person wearing gray office pants and black high heels with their feet resting on a cluttered white office desk. The desk has a monitor, keyboard, mouse, a cup, a telephone, a pot with a plant, sticky notes, and a folder. There is a blue sticky note on a file cabinet with the text "confidence that compounds."

Why your work alone won’t protect your career

Performance matters, but in complex organisations it is rarely the only factor shaping progression.

In this session, I explore how visibility, organisational context and leadership dynamics influence career trajectories and what professionals need to understand in order to build influence and impact.

  • "Carly brought immediate clarity and rigour to how we approached talent and organisational decisions. But what stood out most was the impact beyond the obvious. • "Carly has a way of stretching your thinking while still keeping things grounded and practical. She helped me understand my leadership strengths, the gaps I needed to work on, and gave me the confidence to hold my ground. She's been a genuine thought partner."
